TV Licence

Tuesday, 6th September, 2016

For many years the TV Licence has been the subject of debate.

Do I need to pay it? Can they track what I watch? How do they knowable?

More recently however, with online streaming, there has been even more confusion.

All that has changed as of last week - 1st September 2016. The new rules are quite simple and ignorance is no excuse. They are now in force.

If you watch live broadcast television of any kind you need to pay a licence fee. That also means that if you record anything from live television you will also need to pay.

In short, whether you watch television over an aerial, a laptop, a smartphone, a tablet or any device a fee of 145 per year must be paid; unless of course you are exempt, e.g. over 75 years old.

The rules are clear but if in doubt please ask our staff or alternatively further information can be found online.
